A Halloween Job Opportunity: Ghost Writing

It does seem fitting that I discuss ghost writing during the month of Halloween.  Sort of matches the occasion right?
Anyway, I’m mentioning ghost writing because of this new money-making opportunity I found online.  It’s relatively new and is quite unknown in the online world, but I did try them out and they paid me!  Now if that isn’t something worth talking about then I don’t know what is.
The website weneedghostwriters.com is as straightforward as you can get.  In a nutshell, they need people to write 500-word articles on specific topics.  …

People always leave.
Yes, they leave right after reading a few sentences in your opening paragraph. That is, if they don’t find anything worthwhile.
This is a fast-paced world; if you don’t have them by the first line of your book or article, it’s over. You could have the best ideas in the world but it would be useless. Readers do not have time to read every article or book every written; they can only read so much. Unless you’re an established author with a serious fan base, you have to …

I’m a little bored today and I’m not exactly in the mood to write, so I decided to surf around the net for a nice meme on writing for a change. As I told you previously, a meme can be quite helpful when you’re running out of ideas. Here’s something I found on Writing Wrongs. Lovely site, and the posts are insightful. Anyway, here’s the meme with my answers:

It’s always been my dream to write a travel blog (or column), but I don’t have enough travel experience to do so. I’ve only been to a few cities in China and a few provinces in the Philippines. Of course, all my experiences in these places were really remarkable and quite memorable. Still, a travel writer should be able to cover more than two countries. Otherwise it would be boring and quite lacking in variety.
That’s a problem that I noticed in a lot of “travel” websites.
These …

Producing content is not quite as easy as it sounds.
A lot of blog/website owners would like to cash in on the booming blogosphere, but they find it difficult to constantly write unique posts that’ll keep readers coming. Even the best of writers can’t always come up with interesting articles (we have our bad days, too, you know) and sometimes, keeping the blog alive becomes more of a chore than a passion.
More importantly, not all writers can write keyword-rich articles — the not-so-secret key to internet success. SEO …

I’ve always been secretly awed by fiction writers.
It’s not that I’ve never received my fair share of praise for my writing; more than a few people have commended me on my flair for the written word. It’s just that I’ve always believed that writing non-fiction is clinical — sort of a technical ability rather than a creative streak. Nearly any human being with enough smarts can put together an informative article. It won’t be perfect or excellent, but it’ll work somehow in some instances. When you …

You might have noticed two prominent additions to this website this week.
First, I posted an entry on my inclusion in the W.O.O.F. Contest newsletter of sorts as hosted by Plotdog.Com. Unlike most contests you find in the blogosphere today, WOOF doesn’t actually promise you any of those grand prizes we’ve come to know (and love, of course). What it does, though, is that it allows writers to submit their best articles and creative writing projects for inclusion in a specific week’s newsletter (of sorts). Fellow writers vote …

These days, one of my biggest freelance writing projects is content writing. It started out with rewriting, actually, then I realized that a lot more money could be made if I actually wrote and sold my original articles. With rewriting, the writer can easily be persuaded to accept a lot less, particularly when the client sells you the “it’s just rearranging words” shtick.
Note to readers: don’t fall for it.
Who needs content writers? First of all, not everyone has the skill and energy to keep up a website …

Let’s face it. Scandals sell. Sometimes, you really have to be provocative to get attention.
I’m not asking you to strip down to nothing and start a webcam session.
I mean that, as a writer, sometimes it takes more than the most intelligent efforts to gain a decent following. In some cases, you have to be willing to “go the distance” and employ shock-and-awe tactics to have people sit up and notice you.
I tried out this theory of mine on Informative Post yesterday. A few days ago, I …

Back in 2005, I finally decided to quit my job and leave my nauseating bosses behind to live a life free from stress emanating from eight hours in the hell hole I used to call e-Pacific. Yes, I’m naming the company. I hate it, I hate the people I worked with (most, not all) and I can call it a craptacular company if I want to. Darling bosses, if you still have enough money left over from that bankrupt piece of trash you call a company, sue …
