You might have noticed two prominent additions to this website this week.
First, I posted an entry on my inclusion in the W.O.O.F. Contest newsletter of sorts as hosted by Plotdog.Com. Unlike most contests you find in the blogosphere today, WOOF doesn’t actually promise you any of those grand prizes we’ve come to know (and love, of course). What it does, though, is that it allows writers to submit their best articles and creative writing projects for inclusion in a specific week’s newsletter (of sorts). Fellow writers vote …

Keep writing.
At first, I was starting to lose faith in this website. Few people were visiting, it hardly has any comments and I’m not exactly shocking readers through the roof. It’s been less than two months, yet my lack of patience is rearing its head and starting to feed my paranoia.
What if my site is doomed to fail, and I never make it as a pro-blogger? What if I’m just not cut out for this SEO thing?
Yesterday, though, I got a pretty good shot in the arm …

Just like in the real world, giving away free stuff can be a pretty good motivator to make people sit up and listen. Freebies, prizes and rewards never fail, be it online or offline. There’s something about human beings that makes us light up whenever the word “free” comes around.
That said, a contest is a very good way to get more traffic to your site. Just ask The Net Fool, host of this month’s biggest online contest. He’s giving away cash and online freebies; can you …

Yes, you read that right. Don’t write like a pro.
More importantly, there’s really no such thing as a pro. Get that eyebrow down and read what I’m about to say carefully. Yes, there are professional writers. Yes, they have great writing style, hence their successful writing careers. But here’s the catch: you don’t have to learn to write like them to succeed.
In fact, you probably can’t.

If there’s something any writer worth his salt should know, it’s that without readers, you’re pretty much screwed. It’s doubly difficult for bloggers, given the massive amount of aspiring writers they have to compete with online. Face it: unless the fickle readers of cyberspace deem your blog worthy of their time, a successful online writing career is never going to happen.
It comes as no surprise, therefore, that bloggers are resorting to a tactic that has kept tabloids, reality shows and Paris Hilton’s career afloat to this day. …

I’m not an SEO expert — far from it. I got into this late in the game, and as you may notice, I still have PR 0 right now.
So why am I posting a list of tips to increase traffic to your blog or website? More importantly, why should you listen to me?
It seems weird, but I actually have a decent reason for this. As a fellow newbie, I’m pretty much on the prowl for ways to increase my own site’s traffic. As such, I’ve pretty …

Back in 2006, I posted a list of the things I hated most on my personal blog. It was a pretty humorous list, since I ranted against everything, from commuters to television commercials. Yes, I’m shallow. But that’s not the point.
Anyway, so one of the items in my list was “stupid commercials”, and I mentioned two of the tv ads I loathed most during that time, i.e. Smart (the melodramatic, “I’m a paraplegic but I can act” ones) and Neozep (Miguelito and some girl). Why did …

I have to admit I was apprehensive at first. The words “paid blogging” just brought SELLOUT in major capital letters to mind.
I’m not being melodramatic; I just felt that, well, blogging is pretty much sacred to me. I blog because I’m overflowing with emotions, both positive and negative. My personal blog is just me frothing at the mouth. It’s my sanctuary of sorts, and to ever consider getting paid to talk about some product on my beloved blog?
You’re practically asking me to tattoo ads on my …

Back in 2005, I finally decided to quit my job and leave my nauseating bosses behind to live a life free from stress emanating from eight hours in the hell hole I used to call e-Pacific. Yes, I’m naming the company. I hate it, I hate the people I worked with (most, not all) and I can call it a craptacular company if I want to. Darling bosses, if you still have enough money left over from that bankrupt piece of trash you call a company, sue …

After a few nights of sleepless obsession and clubbing myself over the head with my trusty slippers when I finally realized how freaking simple the solution to my problems were, I finally did it. This website is finally up and running.
I’m still a bit overwhelmed, since it takes quite a few more steps than usual to upload every single time. I still love everything about this blog, though, since it’s pretty much the product of my sweat and tears. This is the first time a blog has …
