Hello Walrus, Meet the Carpenter!

3 December 2008 3 Comments

Hey y’all!

You do know I’m a nerd at heart, so writing for PolicyNet pretty much suits me perfectly.

Nope, I didn’t create a new blog. Or I sort of did, but it’s for someone else. It’s not mine in the sense that I don’t deal with the hosting and stuff.

So anyway, yes, I’m paid to blog, but this isn’t your usual paid to advertise stuff kind of blog.

It’s a blog where I get to talk about my biggest passion: China.

I’m almost done with my Masters in Chinese Studies, so I think I’m pretty competent. I get to go all political and nerdy on that blog, so I love it :)

Anyway, do check it out if you have time.

I’ll be blogging a lot more regularly there, I promise.

Here’s the link: “Hello Walrus, Meet the Carpenter”

The title’s based on the Lewis Carroll poem, “The Walrus and the Carpenter”, which in turn is the inspiration for The Beatles’ “I am the Walrus”. I chose that title because it’s purported to be a critique on the communist and capitalist systems, but mostly because the popularity might just rub off a bit on me :)

Just be kind and check it out, will ya?

XOXO,

Sounds right up my street. I’ll check it out, assuming China hasn’t blocked it.

    Me again.

Interesting post on the internet on your other blog. Good timing too, as China has just blocked all Blogspot.com blogs. Something that is causing me considerable headaches atm.

Actually, since the beginning of the year, they’ve blocked more sites than I can every remember. In my seven years of living here, I’ve never had some many problems getting online.

That said, I don’t believe your average Chinese person on the street really cares, as they mostly surf Chinese sites that aren’t blocked.

Even if they wish to go to other sites, it’s not hard really. There are plenty of proxy sites out there.

    It’s stupid all round really.
