Google Adsense is Starting to Earn
I love blogging.
As you can see in my personal blog, blogging is my satori. It’s my catharsis. I rant, I rave, I froth at the mouth. I dance around in my underwear — figuratively speaking, that is. It’s my heart and soul on a platter, served up to anyone who would be so kind as to read.
I’ve been blogging for more than two years now. My first blog was on Xanga, but it didn’t exactly last because I spent most of my posts drooling over some guy I would never ever see again in this lifetime (he’s not dead, he’s just in China and I’ve stopped drooling). It was a stupid blog, and that’s quite an understatement.
My next blog was on Friendster, back when I still had the patience to deal with that QA-needing website. It was there that I started writing about things that interested me. My blog contained musings, rants, observations and horrendous encounters aboard the MRT. It was my first decent blog.
My blog’s now with Livejournal, but only because it’s the only platform (aside from Wordpress) that isn’t banned by our company firewall. I sort of like LJ because it’s uncomplicated, and I’ve built quite a following (”quite” meaning less than 10 people, tops) over there.
Now it’s obviously no secret why I have this writing blog here in blogspot. Simply put, I followed the trail of Google Adsense. I got approved for Adsense months ago, but I didn’t really have the chance to apply it till a few weeks back.
A few minutes ago, I found the ubiquitous zeros on my Adsense report replaced with 27 cents. I can swear I nearly bawled for joy. Yes, it’s 27 cents. It’s paltry. But if I may be so bold as to remind you, dear reader: you can’t have a dollar without 27 cents.
Hah!
I won’t be a hypocrite and tell you that I created this blog just because I’m a writing know-it-all. I’m not (sort of). I do love blogging, so when I realized that people actually made money off writing, I decided I’d try it, too. No harm mixing business with pleasure right?
I needed space to talk about my two greatest loves: writing and money. This blog is that union’s baby. It’s a work in progress, obviously, so I’m taking it one day at a time. I’m still learning, but if my measly earnings after less than a week of being online are anything to go by, I’m probably on the right (but difficult) track. I’m far from a John Chow, but I’ll work on it.
Meanwhile, you can learn all about the tricks and tips of the trade on PinoyMoneyTalk, one of the best forums I’ve been to (no joke, no paid plugging. I swear with my right hand over my heart).
As ACDC once said, it’s going to be a long way to the top. Once you get there, though, the rewards will be ultra-sweet.
See you at the top, baby.
XOXO,
